What is scholarship?
A scholarship is a kind of award for students to students further. It is a kind of financial aid to a student from poor family background. The scholarships are awarded to the students on the basis of different criteria. These criteria usually reflect the values and purpose of the founder or donor of the scholarship.
The different types of scholarships are:
Merit based: these awards are awarded to the students on the basis of their athletic, academic or any other abilities.
Need Based: these scholarships are awarded to the students on the basis of financial record of student and family background.
Student specific: these scholarships are those where applicant must qualify by race, gender, religion and so on.
Career specific: these are the scholarships awarded by the school or colleges to the students planning to pursue a specific field of study.
So many countries provide scholarships for high school students. These scholarships will help the students from the poor family background to continue their specific field of interest. There are many students who just stop studying further because of their family background. Now days, in many states, the government is providing merit based scholarship to the students.

The government has made it very easy for everyone to apply for the high school scholarships. Every student can easily apply for scholarships by just filling some simple forms. These forms are easily available to them through their school department or even the government gives advertisement of them in news papers and other things. The scholarship is provided on the basis of the merit of the student during the year.
Also there are many private firms which are providing these scholarships to the needed students and also to the merit students.
